YouTuber Nikocado Avocado just served his fans the ultimate surprise.
The 32-year-old, known for his "Mukbang" videos that show him eating giant food portions, released a clip Sept. 6 revealing a slimmer appearance from his previous posting, shared in February, that he attributed to a loss of 250 pounds.
But while the time that elapsed in between his videos suggested this feat was accomplished in seven months, the YouTuber—whose real name is Nicholas Perry—signaled that he dropped the weight over the course of a longer period of time, revealing that during the past two years, he had shared solely older footage of himself.
"Two steps ahead, I am always two steps ahead," he said in his latest YouTube post, which shows him wearing a giant panda mask. "This has been the greatest social experiment of my entire life."
He continued, "It's alluring, it's compelling, it's gripping to observe all these unwell, disoriented beings roam the internet in search of stories, ideas, rivalries where they feel encouraged and engaged. Where they involve themselves with the stories and become a product of influence, thirsty for distraction from time unspent spoiling their minds, yet stimulating them at the same time."
The YouTuber said he felt as if he was "monitoring ants on an ant farm."
"One follows another, follows another, follows another," he said. "It's mesmerizing. It's spellbinding. All these little consumers all of these lost and bored people consuming anything that they're told to consume."
Removing his panda mask, he continued, "So I am the villain because I've made myself one. And you will continue to consume these stories about me year after year after year. For as long as I tell the internet that I am the villain, stories that permeate and linger and infect the minds of the ants, influence the ants, brainwash the ants. You are the ants."
The influencer said he just "woke up from a very long dream.
"I also woke up having lost 250 pounds off of my body," he said, "yet just yesterday people were calling me 'fat' and 'sick' and 'boring' and 'irrelevant.' People are the most messed up creatures on the entire planet and yet I've still managed to stay two steps ahead of everyone. The joke's on you."
After introducing a green parrot named Mr. Noodle, identical to a bird seen in his YouTube videos in past years, Nikocado indulged in another mukbang session, slurping spicy black bean noodles.
"They don't call me the Mukbang King for no reason," he said. "I know how to slurp."
He then shared more details about his weight loss journey in a video shared on his second YouTube channel.
"I haven't made a video for like two years," the influencer said, "and this is where I'm posting now."
Fans' responses to his two-year "joke" were overwhelmingly positive.
"This guy is actually a genius," one person wrote. "He spent a chunk of his life to prove that people are ruthless and unforgiving, and he f--king succeeded. I just feel horrible now."
Another user commented. "Dude's not a villain. He's a legit hero. Good job, man!"
